A Long-Awaited Introduction

It is possible to be Italian and dairy-free/ gluten-sensitive! I am so excited to share all the recipes, tidbits, snacks, and drinks that have gotten me through every occasion.

Dear Fellow Foodie, 

I wanted to introduce myself since I will be posting more frequently here. I’m Nadia Carlino, the youngest of the Carlino children and the coined writer of the family. I recently graduated from college in May and am now working full-time at Carlino’s alongside my parents and siblings. 

Truthfully, I had always said that I never wanted to work in my family business since I was a child, but it wasn’t until recently that I realized that wasn’t the case. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to be a part of the business. Rather, I didn’t want to do a job that wouldn’t make me happy. I never knew that I could do what I loved in a place that always felt like home. I found my niche within my family business, and I am grateful that I’ve become the creative brand writer for Carlino’s. 

With that said, I will frequently write blogs to introduce myself, my family, and our work family in the best way that I can. Through my favorite recipes, stories, and more from my experience growing up as a Carlino, I will invite you into my world. It is so important to shop at small businesses, and it is my wish that by sharing some of our stories, you will see the importance of shopping and supporting local. Due to the pandemic, businesses like my family’s have struggled significantly. It is pertinent to stick to small and local businesses like ours to ensure that we can continue serving our community as we’ve loved to do for almost 40 years. 

On another note, I am dairy-free and have been for almost three years. I will try to incorporate dairy-free and gluten-free alternatives and recipes that will offer the best of both worlds to so many people like myself. While it may seem unlikely, it is possible to be Italian and dairy-free/ gluten-sensitive! I am so excited to share all the recipes, tidbits, snacks, and drinks that have gotten me through every occasion. I will also share stories and recipes from our colleagues so that you can feel like you know both my immediate family and my work family better.
